Read For The Record: October 4, 2012
A World Record 2,385,305 Participants!
FasTracKids participated in its 6th annual Read for the Record event, an international campaign that focuses on the importance of early literacy. Read for the Record demonstrates the power of reading by bringing preschool age children and valued grownups together to read the same book on the same day. The goals for this event are setting a new world record for child participation while bringing awareness to the early literacy achievement gap.
On October 4, 2012, FasTracKids, Jumpstart (in partnership with the Pearson Foundation) and other early education supporters reached a new record by reading Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad. With FasTracKids contributing over 15,300 child readers from 13 different countries, a new world record of 2,385,305 children was achieved! Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad came to life at FasTracKids events that featured puppet shows, a digital version of the book on interactive whiteboards, costumes and children creating their own ladybugs. FasTracKids hopes to have even more reading advocates in 2013!
